TCC women’s basketball team holds off Pirates

When it was suggested during a post-game interview that her Tallahassee Community College women’s basketball team exhibited its post-season mode Friday evening, coach Teresa Atkinson left it open for discussion.

“If that’s what you want to call it, yes,” Atkinson said, “I guess it is.”

It sure seemed so, considering the way that the Eagles fought off Pensacola Junior College in the final minute to take a 61-60 win for a berth in Saturday night’s championship game. The Eagles will try to win their first NJCAA Region VIII title since 2001, facing either Gulf Coast Community College or Palm Beach State College.
