Whyte gives Arizona a base to build around

You’ve almost got to look this up to believe it, but in more than 35 years of women’s college basketball, Arizona has never had a star player from, of all places, Arizona.

The Wildcats haven’t had many stars from anywhere.

But that is about to change, because UA freshman guard Davellyn Whyte from Phoenix St. Mary’s High School is a program-changer.
