  • Central Connecticut outscored Long Island 34-27 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a 13 point halftime deficit as the Blue Devils fell to the Blackbirds in the Northeast Conference semifinals in Loretto, PA this afternoon. Junior Leanne Crockett and sophomore Alexzandria Dowdy led CCSU with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Central finishes the season with an overall record of 12-18 after falling in the NEC semifinals for the second straight season.

  • The Central Connecticut State University women's basketball team advanced to the Northeast Conference Semifinals for the second straight season with a 63-51 quarterfinal victory over Sacred Heart Saturday night in Loretto, PA. Junior Justina Udenze scored 17 points and a career high 18 rebounds, while junior Leanne Crockett recorded 17 points and 13 boards in the victory. Junior Kerrianne Dugan scored her 1,000th career point during first half action. The Blue Devils will now take on second seed Long Island Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

  • Tricia Fabbri Honored With WBCA Victory Club Award
  • Quinnipiac University women's basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri was honored as one of the recipients of the 2010 RUSSELL ATHLETIC/WBCA Victory Club Award. The award is presented to members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) who achieved career wins of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more in increments of 100 this past season. Coach Fabbri recorded her 200th career victory on Dec. 29, 2009 with 11-point, 90-79, against Central Michigan in the Consolation Game at the Wyndham Miami Holiday Tournament.

  • Junior Courtney Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) scored game-high 23 points, but the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team fell to Long Island, 70-63, in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Northeast Conference Tournament held at DeGol Arena on the campus of Saint Francis (PA). The loss eliminates the Bobcats from postseason play and ends their season with a 12-18 overall record. Long Island will move on to face the winner of the Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut contest.
